Forward

We are proud to provide New Zealand electrical workers with an opportunity to achieve some of the highest rates of pay as well as the best terms and conditions of employment in New Zealand.

We aim to make advances in conditions of employment that were once deemed unachievable in an environment that is often typified by anti-union sentiment.

These benefits will only be achieved by our Union as an organisation, our workplace delegates and members fighting to preserve hard won conditions and have the courage to advance their interests to better their standard of living.

However, only through union membership are such gains ever achievable!

Our History

When the CEWU, Communication & Electrical Workers Union folded in 1995, a large void was left in terms of electrical worker collectivism.

Shortly after this occurred, a number of groups of electrical workers successfully set up and ran their own independent registered unions.

Following discussions in 2004, these independent unions have founded a common organizational structure under the umbrella of the new Electrical Union and now make up the Electrical Workers Division of the Manufacturing and Construction Workers Union.
